Job Description

The School of Computing at Horizon University College (HUC) invites applications for a Faculty position to join our dynamic academic team. Therefore, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, curriculum development, and community engagement at a growing institution.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will provide high-quality teaching, develop teaching materials and courses related to the area of specialization, actively carry out research, and participate in various community service activities. Furthermore, faculty members must help students develop their knowledge, skills, and competencies, provide student advising, and assist students in the overall development of their personality by ensuring that the learning environment is appropriate and positive.

  • Reporting to: Dean – School of Computing
  • Department: School of Computing
  • Internal Communication: Dean, Faculty, HODs, Staff, and Students
  • External Communication: As per Dean’s office requirement

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

Teaching & Curriculum Development:

  • First and foremost, carry a teaching load as per the handbook
  • Additionally, prepare lectures, tutorials, class exercises, quizzes, and tests to achieve learning outcomes
  • Furthermore, monitor, assess, record, and disseminate students’ performance periodically
  • Moreover, deliver the course as per the provided course outline
  • In addition, reschedule missed classes within the semester schedule after obtaining approval from the Dean
  • Furthermore, engage classes as per schedule and inform the Administration Department of emergencies at least two hours before class
  • Additionally, attend Pre-Semester Orientation and collect all course-related requirements
  • Moreover, complete teaching/tutoring hours as per the contract and class schedule

Student Support:

  • Furthermore, counsel and advise students to achieve academic excellence in coordination with the Dean – Student Affairs (DSA)
  • Additionally, maintain availability for students outside the classroom and follow the advisory schedule
  • Moreover, evaluate and grade student work promptly and provide appropriate feedback
  • Furthermore, maintain an online attendance sheet and counsel students missing classes without valid reasons per HUC attendance policies

Assessment & Administration:

  • In addition, submit examination papers and answer keys per the schedules and deadlines
  • Furthermore, assist in preparing examination questions for formal assessments in coordination with the group leader
  • Moreover, submit the Teaching Portfolio and Course Report before the end of each semester for approval by the Teaching Effectiveness Committee
  • Additionally, meet all administrative deadlines, including submission of grades, question papers, course files, and quality checks (if applicable)
  • Furthermore, coordinate with the Vice Chancellor & Dean regarding academic matters and guidance
  • Moreover, coordinate with Deputy Director Academic Support Services/Registrar for Academic Support Services matters and guidelines
  • Finally, accomplish administrative responsibilities assigned from time to time by Dean offices and within calendars

Research & Scholarship:

  • Additionally, conduct scholarly research and publish papers/research articles in national and international journals
  • Furthermore, participate in conferences
  • Moreover, conduct services to HUC and the community in coordination with the services committee

Institutional Representation:

  • In addition, represent and help in branding the school and university
  • Furthermore, support internationalization, admission, and placement of students, exchange, and national and international accreditations
  • Moreover, help in planning and organizing academic and extra-curricular activities
  • Additionally, build public relations and maintain functional relationships with other departments
  • Furthermore, effectively participate in committee activities to achieve committee objectives
  • Finally, meet with the group leader as per the issued calendar

Functional Areas:

  • Contribute and play a vital role in various accreditation activities of ABET and SOIT
    • KPI: Contribution to IE committees and accreditation processes
