Job Description

Muscat University invites applications for Assistant Professor and Lecturer positions in Cybersecurity and Cyber Forensics to manage and support delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, foundation, and executive programs.

Position Overview:
This is a predominantly teaching-focused position. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and research. Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Deliver modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Cybersecurity and Cyber Forensics
  • Normal teaching load: 3-4 modules per semester (2 semesters per academic year)

Project Supervision:

  • Oversee undergraduate and postgraduate projects and dissertations
  • Guide students on research methodologies and outcomes

Research:

  • Actively participate in scholarly research leading to publications in peer-reviewed, indexed, and ranked international journals and conferences
  • Initiate and develop research collaborations
  • Write national and international research grant applications

Curriculum Development:

  • Contribute significantly to design and development of new academic programs and curriculum

Community Engagement:

  • Actively participate in service activities within university and across professional and local communities

Educational Qualifications:

  • PhD in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area from internationally recognized university (Assistant Professor rank)
  • Master’s degree considered for Lecturer rank

Specialization Areas:

  • Cybersecurity fundamentals, network and system security, ethical hacking, penetration testing, digital forensics, malware analysis, incident response, secure software and application security, cloud and IoT security, cryptography, and cyber risk management

Teaching Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching cybersecurity-related courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Proven ability to supervise student research projects effectively

Research Engagement:

  • Active involvement in research within specialization areas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant industry experience complementing academic qualifications
  • Strong practical computing skills
  • Professional certifications: SANS/GIAC (GIAC Certified Incident Handler, GIAC Penetration Tester), CISSP, CEH, CISM
  • Evidence of active participation in university, professional, and local community initiatives
