Job Description
The Program of Interior Design at the American University in Dubai (AUD) invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Interior Design to begin teaching in Fall 2026. Therefore, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to design education, research, and academic service at a prestigious private institution in Dubai.
About AUD:

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will teach both studio, digital design software, and lecture courses in a CIDA accredited curriculum. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate evidence of successful teaching experience or significant potential for teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate level. Furthermore, they are expected to meet standards for personal professional scholarship and assist in student advising, curriculum development, and other service to the department, school, and community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- To begin with, candidates must have a completed Ph.D. in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field
- Additionally, NCIDQ certification is required
- Furthermore, understanding of the proprietary education system
- Moreover, previous college level teaching experience (three years of teaching, facilitating, or instructing experience)
- Additionally, previous professional experience in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
- Furthermore, excellent presentation skills
- Moreover, ability to work within a diverse student and faculty community
- Additionally, ability to teach both studio, digital design software, and lecture courses in a CIDA accredited curriculum
- Furthermore, high level of digital proficiency with the ability to teach courses related to the most common software for Interior Design/Interior Architecture/Design, including:
- Revit
- Advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Building Information Modeling (BIM)
- Digital Design Illustration and rendering programs for design
- Familiarity with Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) applied to Interior Design
- Moreover, knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications to Interior Design
- Additionally, expertise in one or more of the following is highly valued:
- Acoustical Design
- Lighting Design
- Building Systems & Codes
- Textiles for Interiors
- Resources and Materials
- Furthermore, demonstrated ability to participate in the reviewing, evaluating, and writing of technical training manuals or development of curricula and supporting materials related to the higher education field
- Additionally, evidence of published Research in the field
- Finally, candidates must have undergone UAE Equivalency

Key Responsibilities:
- First and foremost, deliver high-quality instruction in Interior Design studio, digital design software, and lecture courses
- Additionally, contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement
- Furthermore, engage in professional scholarship and research
- Moreover, provide student advising and academic support
- In addition, participate in service activities at the department, school, and community levels
