Job Description

The University of Khorfakkan invites applications from qualified PhD holders in Tourism, Hospitality Management, or related fields for full-time faculty positions. Therefore, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, and community engagement at a dynamic university in the UAE.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Tourism, with a particular focus on innovative and technology-driven aspects of the industry. Furthermore, they will engage in research activities, supervise graduate students, and contribute to curriculum development and accreditation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

• First and foremost, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Tourism
• Additionally, focus on innovative and technology-driven aspects of the tourism industry
• Furthermore, integrate computer technology effectively into tourism education

Research & Scholarship:

• Moreover, engage in research activities that lead to high-quality publications
• Specifically, publish in internationally recognized journals, particularly those indexed in Scopus
• Consequently, maintain a strong research record with solid impact factors

Supervision:

• In addition, supervise graduate research projects, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations
• Furthermore, guide students in their academic and professional development

Curriculum Development:

• Additionally, develop and enhance tourism curricula
• Specifically, incorporate smart technologies and current industry trends

Accreditation:

• Moreover, participate in academic accreditation processes
• Furthermore, ensure alignment with the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation and international standards

Administrative Duties:

• In addition, perform administrative duties as assigned by the department, college, and university

Community Engagement:

• Furthermore, actively contribute to community service initiatives
• Specifically, engage with industry partners, organize academic events, and provide consultancy services

Student Advising:

• Additionally, advise and mentor students, guiding them in their academic and professional development

Required Qualifications & Competencies:

• To begin with, candidates must have a PhD in Tourism, Hospitality Management, or a related field from a recognized university
• Furthermore, a minimum of five years of effective teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels in tourism or related areas
• Additionally, a strong research record with publications in internationally ranked, peer-reviewed journals with solid impact factors or indexed in Scopus
• Moreover, experience supervising graduation projects, as well as master’s and doctoral theses/dissertations
• Furthermore, proven ability to establish partnerships with industry and community stakeholders to enhance academic and research collaboration
• Additionally, a track record of service to the university and the wider academic community
• Preference for candidates with experience in online/e-learning environments and digital pedagogical methods
• Furthermore, ability to integrate computer technology effectively into tourism education and research

About the Role:
The selected candidate is expected to play an active role in the advancement of the college and university. Consequently, they will contribute to research, teaching, and community engagement efforts.
