Job Description

The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai (AUD) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Political Science within the Department of International and Middle Eastern Studies, with teaching expected to begin in Fall 2026.

This is a faculty position based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

About the Position

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate teaching in Political Science, International Relations, and related areas, while maintaining an active programme of research and contributing to student advising, curriculum development, and academic service.

AUD is particularly interested in candidates with teaching expertise in areas such as:

• International law and diplomacy.
• Security studies.
• Global governance.
• Sustainability.
• International relations and related fields.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a PhD in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related field from a Western-accredited university.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

• Previous teaching experience in relevant areas within a Western higher education system.
• Evidence of scholarly activity or strong potential for scholarly contributions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• The ability to work collegially within a multidisciplinary and culturally diverse faculty team.

Teaching Experience

Relevant teaching experience may include areas such as:

• International law.
• Diplomacy.
• Security studies.
• Global governance.
• Sustainability.
• International relations.
• Related Political Science fields.

Successful candidates should provide evidence of teaching excellence or demonstrate significant potential and promise for effective teaching at undergraduate and/or graduate level.
