Job Description
The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai (AUD) invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Oral Rhetoric to begin teaching in Fall 2026. Therefore, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to communication education, research, and academic service at a prestigious private institution in Dubai.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in either Communication or Speech from a Western accredited institution at the time of appointment. Furthermore, successful candidates will have evidence of teaching excellence or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level. Additionally, candidates are expected to maintain an active research agenda, to assist in curriculum development, and to engage in service to the department, school, and community.
Required Qualifications:
- To begin with, candidates must have a Ph.D. in either:
- Communication (general communication, international & interpersonal communication, communication studies; a degree in speech communication is preferred), OR
- Speech (speech studies, rhetoric)
- Furthermore, experience teaching Public Speaking
- Additionally, related experiences in forensics, performing arts, media, and/or professional memberships or certification
- Moreover, excellent English written and oral communication skills
- Finally, experience teaching diverse student populations
Key Responsibilities:
- First and foremost, deliver high-quality instruction in Public Speaking and Oral Rhetoric at the undergraduate level
- Additionally, demonstrate teaching effectiveness and excellence
- Furthermore, maintain an active research agenda
- Moreover, assist in curriculum development and program enhancement
- In addition, provide student advising and academic support
- Furthermore, engage in service activities at the department, school, and community levels
