Job Description
The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai (AUD) invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Political Science in the Department of International and Middle Eastern Studies to begin teaching in Fall 2026. Therefore, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to political science education, research, and academic service at a prestigious private institution in Dubai.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related field from a Western-accredited university. Additionally, successful candidates will have evidence of excellence in teaching or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Furthermore, candidates are expected to have an active research agenda, a record of professional development, and a willingness to assist in student advising, curriculum development, and other service to the department, school, and community.
Required Qualifications:
- To begin with, candidates must have a Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related field from a Western-accredited university
- Furthermore, previous teaching experience in areas related to:
- International law and diplomacy
- Security studies
- Global governance
- Sustainability
- Related topics in a Western higher education system
- Additionally, evidence of scholarly activity or strong potential for scholarly contributions
- Moreover, excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Furthermore, ability to work collegially within a team of faculty members from diverse disciplines
Key Responsibilities:
- First and foremost, deliver high-quality instruction in Political Science at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
- Additionally, demonstrate teaching effectiveness and excellence
- Furthermore, maintain an active research agenda and scholarly productivity
- Moreover, provide student advising and academic support
- In addition, contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement
- Furthermore, participate in service activities at the department, school, and community levels
- Additionally, work collegially with faculty from diverse disciplines
