The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai (AUD) invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of English to begin teaching in Fall 2026. Therefore, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to English language education, curriculum development, and academic service at a prestigious private institution in Dubai.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will have primary teaching responsibilities in the Center for English Proficiency (CfEP), particularly within the English Bridge Program, which supports undergraduate students in developing the academic English skills necessary for success in university coursework. Additionally, candidates will contribute to curriculum development, student mentoring, and assessment initiatives within the Center for English Proficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • To begin with, candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in English, Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), Applied Linguistics-ELT, or a closely-related field from a Western accredited institution at the time of appointment
  • Furthermore, demonstrated experience teaching ESL, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), or academic English to university-level students, or TEFL/CELTA Certification
  • Additionally, excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Moreover, ability to work effectively as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic qualifications and/or specialization in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or English for Academic Purposes
  • Academic qualification and/or specialization in teaching Composition
  • Experience tutoring in a Writing Center

Key Responsibilities:

  • First and foremost, deliver high-quality instruction in English to university-level students within the Center for English Proficiency
  • Additionally, contribute to curriculum development and assessment initiatives
  • Furthermore, provide student mentoring and academic support
  • Moreover, meet standards for professional scholarship
  • In addition, participate in service activities at the department, school, and community levels

Teaching Effectiveness:
Candidates will have evidence of successful teaching experience or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate level.
