Job Description

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites applications from Ph.D. holders for full-time faculty positions in Insurance and Risk Management (IRM) at the Assistant, Associate, and Professor ranks for the Academic Year 2026–2027.

Key Responsibilities:

The faculty member will provide professional expertise in teaching and learning, assess student work, offer academic advising, participate in administrative and committee assignments, and engage in professional and community service in alignment with the University’s mission.

Teaching & Learning:

• Deliver research-informed and practice-driven teaching in Insurance and Risk Management
• Apply innovative pedagogical approaches that promote inquiry-based learning and competency development
• Supervise theses, capstone projects, and internships

Research & Scholarship:

• Engage actively in scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals
• Maintain an active research agenda with willingness to collaborate with faculty members

Academic Advising:

• Provide academic advising and support students in curriculum planning and career development
• Assess and evaluate student performance using clear, outcome-based assessment criteria aligned with learning outcomes

Curriculum Development:

• Contribute to curriculum review, program development, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure content is current, relevant, and aligned with industry standards

University Service:

• Participate in accreditation activities, committees, recruitment initiatives, and university service
• Pursue continuous professional development through workshops, seminars, certifications, and academic training

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, or closely related field from an accredited university in the United States or from a university accredited by a recognized American accreditation body
• Degree certificate (wall certificate) must be issued and available at the time of interview
• Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the required field
• At least three research publications indexed in Scopus within the last five years

Experience:

• Minimum of two years of teaching and/or professional experience in the same field at an internationally accredited university
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Experience in curriculum development and review
• Proven record of professional accomplishment including peer-reviewed publications
• Active research agenda and willingness to collaborate with faculty members
• Ability to integrate web-based and digital technologies into teaching and learning
• Commitment to serving the College and the University
• Excellent English proficiency and communication skills
