The College of Computing and Informatics at the University of Sharjah invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Biomedical Informatics, commencing in Fall 2026. Position Overview:


The Department of Computer Science seeks a dedicated scholar with a strong background in biomedical informatics to enhance teaching and research initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing academic programs and supporting accreditation efforts while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical informatics and related disciplines
  • Employ effective teaching methodologies at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Mentor and advise students throughout their academic journey

Research & Innovation:

  • Conduct high-impact research in biomedical informatics
  • Publish in refereed scholarly international journals with strong impact factors
  • Initiate research projects leading to publications and patents
  • Secure research funding and establish collaborative partnerships

Supervision:

  • Supervise postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) student research projects and theses
  • Guide Senior Design Projects and undergraduate research initiatives

Academic Service:

  • Contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement
  • Support ABET and CAA accreditation processes
  • Perform assigned administrative tasks at departmental, college, and university levels
  • Build collaborative links with industry and the community

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics or closely related field from a reputable, internationally recognized university
  • Effective teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Strong record of research publications in refereed international journals with good impact factors
  • Experience supervising Senior Design Projects, Master’s, and PhD theses/dissertations
  • Demonstrated interest in building collaborations with industry and community partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research expertise in biomedical data science, health informatics, or computational biology
  • Experience with interdisciplinary research initiatives
  • Record of securing external research funding
  • Familiarity with healthcare applications of computing and informatics
