Assistant/Associate Professor in Computer Engineering (Computer Architecture and Robotics) | University of Sharjah

Job Description

The Department of Computer Engineering in the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of Sharjah invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor in Computer Engineering, commencing in Fall 2026. We are seeking exceptional candidates with expertise in Robotics, Computer Architecture, and/or Artificial Intelligence to join our dynamic academic community.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, student mentorship, and the development of a high-impact research program. This role is pivotal to advancing our undergraduate and graduate programs and supporting our accreditation initiatives, including ABET and CAA of the UAE.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Engineering, with focus on Robotics, Computer Architecture, or Artificial Intelligence
• Mentor and advise students at all academic levels

Research:

• Conduct and publish high-quality research in leading, highly-indexed scholarly journals
• Secure internal and/or external funding to sustain a robust research program
• Pursue patent opportunities where applicable

Supervision:

• Supervise postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) student research projects and theses
• Provide guidance to junior faculty when applicable

Academic Service:

• Contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement
• Support ABET and CAA accreditation processes
• Perform assigned administrative duties
• Build collaborative links with industry and the community

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or a closely related field from a reputable, internationally recognized university
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or closely related engineering field from a recognized institution
• At least 6 years of teaching experience at the university level (exceptional fresh PhD graduates with strong potential may be considered for Assistant Professor rank)
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Strong record of research publications in highly indexed, refereed journals
• Expertise in one or more of: Robotics, Computer Architecture, or Artificial Intelligence
• Experience supervising Master’s and PhD students (highly desirable)
• Commitment to fostering industry and community partnerships
