Job Description

The Department of Information Technology in the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) at Ajman University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice in Artificial Intelligence, beginning in Fall 2026–2027. This position is intended for a qualified academic and industry-oriented professional who can bring current, practice-based expertise in AI to the classroom.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will contribute to an applied learning environment by delivering innovative instruction, integrating real-world AI tools and workflows, and helping students develop practical, professional, and entrepreneurial skills for careers in AI and related digital technologies.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or closely related field from a reputable university
• Demonstrated teaching experience in AI, computing, or IT-related courses at undergraduate level
• Strong professional or leadership experience in industry, data-driven organizations, digital transformation, software development, or intelligent systems
• Ability to connect theory with professional practice and translate industry needs into learning experiences
• Experience supervising student capstone projects, internships, or applied projects
• Experience with contemporary AI tools: machine learning libraries, generative AI tools, cloud AI services, data analytics platforms, MLOps, or intelligent application development ecosystems
• Evidence of professional engagement, applied scholarship, consultancy, or collaborative projects
• Record of community engagement and academic service
• Interdisciplinary collaboration experience (desirable)
• Experience securing external support through grants, consultancy, or industry collaboration (advantage)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate courses in AI, IT, and related areas using student-centered, technology-enhanced approaches
• Design practice-oriented learning experiences incorporating real-world case studies, datasets, and industry scenarios
• Supervise student capstone projects, internships, applied research, and innovation projects
• Contribute to curriculum development aligned with AI advances, industry trends, and accreditation requirements
• Build partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders for internships, guest lectures, mentoring, and consulting
• Support development of innovation spaces and experiential learning opportunities
• Mentor students in professional readiness: portfolio development, competitions, certifications, entrepreneurship, and career pathways
• Engage in professional practice, applied research, or pedagogical innovation
• Assess student learning and provide timely feedback
• Foster inclusive, respectful, culturally responsive learning environment
• Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and industry networks
• Serve on departmental, college, and university committees

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to teach in diverse, multicultural environment
• Ability to connect academic content with current industry practice
• Familiarity with credit-hour academic system
• Familiarity with LMS and digital teaching tools
• Knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, and program development
• Awareness of responsible AI practices (ethics, governance, privacy, security)
