About the Assistant Professor of Interior Design Role
The Program of Interior Design invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Interior Design, to begin in Fall 2026.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- A completed Ph.D. in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field
- NCIDQ certification
- Understanding of the proprietary education system
- Previous college-level teaching experience, with three years of teaching, facilitating, or instructing experience
- Previous professional experience in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
- Excellent presentation skills
- The ability to work within a diverse student and faculty community
- The ability to teach both studio, digital design software, and lecture courses within a CIDA-accredited curriculum
- A high level of digital proficiency, with the ability to teach courses related to the most common software for Interior Design/Interior Architecture/Design, including Revit, Advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Digital Design Illustration and rendering programs, as well as familiarity with Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) applied to Interior Design
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications to Interior Design
- Expertise in one or more of the following is highly valued: Acoustical, Lighting Design, Building Systems & Codes, Textiles for Interiors, Resources and Materials
- Demonstrated ability to participate in reviewing, evaluating, and writing technical training manuals, or developing curricula and supporting materials related to higher education
- Evidence of published research in the field
- Completion of UAE equivalency

Expectations
Candidates will have evidence of successful teaching experience, or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate level. Additionally, candidates are expected to meet standards for personal professional scholarship, and assist with student advising, curriculum development, and other service to the department, school, and community.

Compensation
The compensation package for this position is competitive and based on the expatriate model. Besides a tax-exempt basic salary, it includes a housing allowance, annual two-way airfare, health/life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children’s tuition, and other components.
