Job Description
The University of Kalba invites applications for a qualified and motivated Assistant or Associate Professor of Tourism Guidance within the History and Islamic Civilization – Tourism Guidance Program in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to tourism education and research in a dynamic academic environment.
Position Overview:
The University seeks candidates holding a PhD in Tourism Studies, Tourism Guidance, or a closely related field, with demonstrated expertise in tourism guidance, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong research profile grounded in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, as evidenced by publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Curriculum Development:
- Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in Tourism Guidance, Heritage Interpretation, and related areas using innovative, student-centered, and experiential teaching approaches
- Contribute to the design, review, and continuous enhancement of the Tourism Guidance curriculum in alignment with national priorities, industry needs, and international academic standards
- Integrate emerging knowledge into teaching and curriculum design
Research & Scholarship:
- Conduct high-quality research in tourism and publish in reputable, peer-reviewed academic journals
- Apply and demonstrate proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in both teaching and research activities
- Engage in interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives across the College and the University
- Seek external research funding and contribute to funded research projects relevant to tourism, heritage, and cultural sustainability
Student Mentorship & Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor students in academic advising, research projects, and professional development within the tourism and heritage sectors
- Support student internships, field training, and applied learning opportunities
Industry & Community Engagement:
- Establish and maintain partnerships with tourism authorities, cultural institutions, museums, heritage sites, and industry stakeholders
- Contribute to community engagement initiatives that promote cultural heritage awareness, sustainable tourism practices, and societal impact
- Represent the University at national and international conferences, academic forums, and professional tourism and heritage organizations
Academic Service:
- Participate actively in college and university governance through committee work and academic service
- Remain current with developments in tourism studies, heritage interpretation, and pedagogy
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Tourism Studies, Tourism Guidance, or closely related discipline from an accredited institution
- Appointment at Assistant or Associate Professor rank, commensurate with qualifications and experience
- Strong record of scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed academic journals
- Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- At least one year of university-level teaching experience (for Assistant Professor)
- Demonstrated record of teaching, research, and academic service appropriate for Associate Professor rank
- Evidence of effective, innovative, and student-centered teaching practices
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
- Commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and community engagement
- Proficiency in both Arabic and English
