Assistant/Associate Professor in Computer Engineering (Cybersecurity) | University of Sharjah

Job Description

The Department of Computer Engineering (CE) in the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) at the University of Sharjah (UOS) invites applications from highly qualified candidates for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position in Cybersecurity, with specialization in Software Security fields such as Secure Software Design & Development, Secure Operating System, Secure Database, or closely related domains. This position commences in September 2026.

Position Overview:
The CE Department seeks candidates with a solid background in Computer Engineering and expertise in cybersecurity. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, student advising, and research capability to develop and sustain funded research programs. Female candidates are encouraged to apply and will be given priority.

Department Highlights:

• ABET accredited B.Sc. undergraduate program in Computer Engineering
• Bachelor and Master programs in Cybersecurity Engineering
• M.Sc. program in Computer Engineering
• PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

• Deliver courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Engineering and Cybersecurity
• Teach core courses in the Cybersecurity Engineering Program and specialized areas of expertise

Research & Scholarship:

• Contribute to research activities and initiate research projects
• Publish research findings in refereed scholarly international journals with high impact factors
• Develop and sustain internally and/or externally funded research programs
• Pursue patents and high-ranking publications

Supervision:

• Supervise postgraduate students’ research projects and theses (Master’s/PhD)
• Supervise Senior Design Projects
• Mentor and advise students at all levels

Curriculum & Accreditation:

• Contribute to development of courses and programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Support ABET Accreditation and CAA of UAE processes
• Mentor and advise junior faculty (when applicable)

Academic Service:

• Perform all assigned administrative tasks by the program, department, college, and university
• Build collaborative links with industry and the community

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Ph.D. in Cybersecurity or closely related fields with background in Computer Engineering from a reputable and internationally recognized University
• Experience in Secure software design, Secure Operating System, Secure Database, or allied domains
• Solid research record with publications in refereed scholarly international journals
• Effective teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Experience supervising Senior Design Projects, Master’s and PhD Theses/Dissertations
• Interest and experience in bridging links with industry and the community
• Strong Engineering background

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industrial or postdoctoral experience (plus)
• Demonstrated ability to secure research funding
