ABOUT SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN
With a faculty that contributes experiences in practice and research in more than ten countries, the international make-up of the School of Architecture and Interior Design at CUD is unique in the UAE. It brings together traditions and innovations from the east and the west, the north and the south, and seeks to provide the best of this broad cultural background in design, offering new views on the local context from a global perspective.

The School understands architecture and interior design as manifestations of social and cultural life in space. It conceives architectural and interior design as creative processes giving spatial forms to human values by organizing material and environmental conditions in the urban context; It considers that architectural design creations must provide inspiring enclosure for human activity and thinking to thrive. The School offers a five years Bachelor of Architecture and a four year Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, while it is expanding its educational ecosystem to shape a more comprehensive design landscape.
PROFILE– Teaching Assistant in Interior Design
The candidate is an interior design graduate who aims at developing an academic career in Higher Education. Driven by a passion for design education, he/she has strrong communication and interpersonal skills, is proficient in using educational technologies and software, can deliver at multitasking level while managing time efficiently. He/she shows excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES– Teaching Assistant in Interior Design
Teaching Assistants support faculty members and enhance the educational experience for our diverse student body. The Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in the academic success and growth of our students by providing valuable assistance in a dynamic and multicultural university environment.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collaborate closely with professors and instructors in the department to help plan and deliver effective course materials.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students by offering guidance, clarification, and assistance with course content, assignments, and academic projects.
- Assist in grading assignments, exams, and other assessments, ensuring fairness and consistency in grading practices.
- Attend lectures, labs, and tutorials to facilitate discussions, assist with demonstrations, and ensure a conducive learning environment.
- Hold regular office hours to be available for student inquiries, offering additional opportunities for academic support.
- Aid in the development and preparation of course materials, presentations, and multimedia resources for lectures.
- Contribute to faculty research projects, literature reviews, data collection, and data analysis as required.
- Help with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, scheduling, and maintaining course materials and resources.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, helping them improve their understanding of course material and enhance their academic performance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement, critical thinking, and active participation.
- Engage in professional development activities to stay current with educational practices and emerging technologies.
- Ensure adherence to university policies and academic integrity standards in all aspects of your work..
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES
Successful applicants to the position of Teaching Assistant should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design (a Master’s degree is preferred).
Additional areas of knowledge/skills:
use of CAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite
- use of laser cutting and 3D printing equipmenmt
- physical/digital archiving skills
