The Department of Natural Language Processing (NLP) at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) invites applications for open-rank faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. Position Overview:
The Department of Natural Language Processing is expanding and seeks passionate, highly motivated faculty members who will deliver high-quality instruction, mentor students, contribute to curriculum development, and actively engage in interdisciplinary research. • Large Language Models: Mechanisms and Responsible Applications
• Dialog Systems and Chatbots
• Arabic Natural Language Processing
• Machine Translation
• Efficient and Low-Resource NLP
• Speech Recognition and Synthesis
• Multimodality (Language, Speech, Images, Video)
• Understanding Language Subtleties and Nuances

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Mentorship:

• Deliver high-quality instruction in NLP and speech-related courses
• Mentor graduate students in research and professional development
• Contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement
• Supervise student research projects and theses

Research & Scholarship:

• Conduct rigorous, high-impact, and original research in NLP and speech
• Generate new knowledge and explore new frontiers in language technologies
• Publish in top-tier conferences and journals
• Maintain an active research agenda with external funding potential
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams

Academic Service:

• Participate in departmental and university activities
• Engage with industry and government partners
• Contribute to solving pressing global challenges through NLP innovations

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science or closely related field
• Demonstrated excellence in conducting innovative and impactful research
• Strong interest in mentoring graduate students
