About the Role

Middle East College in Oman is seeking a Library Manager to lead its Library and Learning Resources Center. This Library Manager role involves overseeing library operations, resources, policies, and stakeholder engagement to support the college’s academic programmes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science with at least 6 years of experience, OR Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience in colleges or universities
  • People management skills
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills in Arabic and English
  • Good computer skills, including Library Management Systems

Duties and Responsibilities

As Library Manager, the successful candidate will:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate learning resources required for each academic programme, ensuring they are organized and displayed appropriately
  • Manage, promote, and evaluate the quality of journals, textbooks, and other references across departments
  • Design and implement library policies and procedures, reviewing and updating them as required
  • Select, order, and receive new books, periodicals, and other library materials in coordination with departments and academic/non-academic staff
  • Provide orientation programmes for academic staff on the use of printed and non-printed materials
  • Liaise with academic and non-academic departments, external organizations, and suppliers as required
  • Review library holdings in line with curriculum changes and plan for future requirements
  • Ensure the satisfaction of library stakeholders, including students and staff, by systematically collecting feedback and suggestions and considering their implementation
  • Manage budgets and resources, ensuring funds are utilized appropriately
  • Chair the Library Advisory Committee meetings and follow up on recommendations in consultation with Management
  • Handle public relations and liaison with suppliers and business representatives
  • Establish resource-sharing programmes, such as interlibrary loans and the exchange of accession lists and other information with college libraries in Muscat and abroad
  • Perform any other duties assigned within the scope of the role

Nationality and Experience Note

Preference will be given to Omani applicants, who are exempted from the teaching experience requirement.
