The Department of Finance and Economics within the College of Business Administration at the University of Sharjah is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, permanent Assistant Professor in Economics position, commencing in Spring 2026.

We are actively seeking an outstanding academic with a strong research profile and a demonstrated passion for teaching. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be prepared to contribute significantly to our undergraduate and graduate programs, including our MBA, EMBA, and DBA offerings. Furthermore, they will play a key role in our continuous pursuit of academic excellence and accreditation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of economics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a special emphasis on environmental economics.
  • Conduct and publish high-quality, independent research in Scopus-indexed journals.
  • In addition to teaching, the candidate will supervise graduate and undergraduate student projects, theses, and dissertations.
  • Furthermore, they will contribute actively to program development, curriculum enhancement, and community service.
  • Another key responsibility is to support the college’s efforts in obtaining and maintaining international academic program accreditations.
  • Finally, the role involves to engage in scholarly activities and build linkages with industry and professional bodies.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • A Ph.D. in Economics from an internationally recognized and accredited university; specifically, a degree from a Western university is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in higher education.
  • Moreover, a demonstrated ability to teach across all areas of economics is essential, particularly with specific capability in environmental economics.
  • Similarly, a proven track record of conducting and publishing high-quality research in reputable, Scopus-indexed journals is required.
  • Candidates should also possess working knowledge of international academic accreditation processes (e.g., AACSB).
  • While not mandatory, bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English is highly preferred.
