Job Description

Horizon University College (HUC) invites applications for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join the faculty as an Associate Professor in Big Data Analytics. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, and curriculum development in a growing academic environment.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Big Data Analytics and related areas of AI and Machine Learning. The role includes contributing to curriculum development, conducting high-quality research, and engaging in service activities within the department and university community.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Curriculum Development:

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in Big Data Analytics
• Ensure alignment with program educational objectives and learning outcomes
• Engage students through innovative teaching methods and experiential learning opportunities
• Incorporate real-world applications into course delivery
• Design new courses and update existing ones to reflect advances in the field

Research & Scholarship:

• Conduct high-quality research in Big Data Analytics
• Produce scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
• Pursue external funding opportunities for research initiatives
• Maintain an active research agenda contributing to the field

Student Mentorship:

• Mentor and advise students during Master’s Thesis projects
• Provide academic and professional guidance to support student success
• Foster student development in research and analytical skills

Academic Service:

• Participate in departmental and university service activities
• Serve on committee assignments as required
• Engage in outreach initiatives and student advising
• Collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field with focus on Big Data Analytics
• Demonstrated expertise in Big Data Analytics tools and technologies including:
  • Hadoop and Apache Spark
  • Python and R programming
  • SQL and database management
  • Tableau and data visualization
• Teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate level
• Strong commitment to excellence in instruction and student learning outcomes
• Record of scholarly research and publication in Big Data Analytics or related areas
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in AI and Machine Learning applications
• Track record of securing research funding
• Industry experience in data analytics
• Curriculum development expertise
