Job Description

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) invites applications for Associate Professor or Assistant Professor positions in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Dynamics & Control. Successful candidates will begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

General Duties:

• Teach academic courses within specialization in accordance with quality standards
• Supervise graduation projects and postgraduate theses (Master’s and PhD)
• Provide academic advising and support students
• Attend departmental and college council meetings
• Participate in internal and external committees
• Prepare and publish scholarly research
• Offer scientific consultations and participate in conferences
• Contribute to community service through workshops and seminars
• Build local and international partnerships

Specific Duties:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in control systems, dynamics, and related areas
• Assist in curriculum development, review, and assessment
• Provide academic advising and supervise student capstone and graduate projects
• Conduct original research and collaborate with other researchers
• Develop capacity building involving students and research assistants
• Publish quality research outputs and present at national and international conferences
• Contribute to quality assurance and accreditation processes
• Engage in departmental and college committees
• Support community outreach initiatives

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited university
• Background in Dynamics and Control systems
• Minimum 3 years university teaching and research experience
• Demonstrated research track record
• Strong commitment to teaching excellence
• Candidates with AI/ML expertise strongly preferred

General Requirements:

• Good conduct required
• Qualifications must be obtained through full-time study (distance, blended learning not accepted)
• Medical fitness required
