About the Biological and Life Sciences Division
The Biological and Life Sciences Division at MBZUAI conducts research at the intersection of genomics, multi-omics, personalized medicine, precision therapeutics, epidemiology, and artificial intelligence.
A major initiative within the division is the Human Phenotype Project, a large-scale longitudinal cohort and biobank designed to identify novel molecular markers with diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic value.
The project includes comprehensive participant profiling through data on:
- Medical history
- Lifestyle and nutritional habits
- Vitals and anthropometrics
- Blood tests
- Continuous glucose monitoring
- Sleep monitoring
- Genetics
- Transcriptomics
- Microbiomics
- Metabolomics
- Immune system markers
The division combines these datasets with advanced AI, medical, and computational models to investigate disease mechanisms, identify novel biomarkers, and develop predictive models for disease onset and progression.
The resulting research aims to support personalized prevention strategies and innovative therapeutic interventions.
Research Areas
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Computational and Systems Biology
- Medical and Health Informatics
- Personalized Medicine
- Foundation AI Models
- Multi-omics and Integrative Data Analysis
