Job Description

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Public Policy, with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence in Public Policy or Applied Policy Research. This appointment offers an opportunity to join a distinguished graduate studies institution committed to advancing knowledge and bettering the human condition in Qatar and the Arab world.

Position Overview:


The School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy seeks a scholar with teaching effectiveness and an established or emerging research agenda. The successful candidate will contribute to the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program, which prepares graduates to formulate, analyze, and evaluate public policies on sound scientific foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Supervision:

  • Deliver graduate-level courses in Public Policy
  • Supervise master’s and doctoral students in the program
  • Engage actively in the academic life of the Institute
  • Foster a culture of evidence-based policy analysis and reform

Research:

  • Publish research in leading refereed journals and academic publishing houses
  • Maintain an active research profile in specialized and related fields
  • Pursue external support and funding for research initiatives
  • Engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research with program and institute colleagues

Academic Service:

  • Undertake administrative responsibilities at program, school, and institute levels
  • Participate in various committees
  • Contribute to the development and activities of the School’s Policy Lab
  • Engage with the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies
  • Collaborate with relevant Qatari institutions and stakeholders

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • PhD in Public Policy or closely related field
  • Track record of scientific research and publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Teaching competence and experience at graduate level
  • Proficiency in Arabic language
  • Ability to attract external research funding
  • Willingness to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research
  • Potential to build global reputation in specialized research fields

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in AI, machine learning, or advanced quantitative methods for policy analysis
  • Experience in policy labs or applied research settings
  • Policy-relevant outputs such as reports or working papers
