About the Assistant Professor of Political Science Role
The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Political Science, in the Department of International and Middle Eastern Studies, to begin teaching in Fall 2026.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate should have:
- A Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related field, from a Western-accredited university
- Previous teaching experience in areas related to international law and diplomacy, security studies, global governance, sustainability, and related topics in a Western higher education system
- Evidence of scholarly activity or strong potential for scholarly contributions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- The ability to work collegially within a team of faculty members from diverse disciplines

Expectations
Successful candidates will have evidence of excellence in teaching, or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Additionally, candidates are expected to maintain an active research agenda, build a record of professional development, and assist with student advising, curriculum development, and other service to the department, school, and community.
Compensation
The compensation package for this position is competitive and based on the expatriate model. Besides a tax-exempt basic salary, it includes housing, annual two-way airfare, health/life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children’s tuition, and other components.
