Architecture Associate Professor – Job Purpose

The appointee will contribute to excellence in architecture and urban planning education through high-quality teaching, research, student mentorship, and curriculum development.

In addition, the successful candidate will engage with professional and external partners while supporting interdisciplinary collaboration across the University.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Professor will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Architecture or Urban Planning.
  • Supervise thesis projects.
  • Mentor students at different academic levels.
  • Conduct high-quality research relevant to the Department’s areas of interest.
  • Publish scholarly research.
  • Contribute to curriculum development.
  • Support pedagogical innovation.
  • Participate in departmental, faculty, and university committees.

  • Develop collaborative relationships with industry.
  • Build links with government organisations.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a:

  • PhD in Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

Candidates should have a minimum of:

  • Eight years of relevant experience.

In addition, applicants should demonstrate substantial university-level academic experience appropriate to appointment at Associate Professor level.

Teaching and Research Profile

Candidates should demonstrate excellence in university teaching together with a strong academic or professional portfolio.

The position particularly requires evidence of:
