Job Description

The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position in the Department of Medical Education. Qualified candidates at all levels will be considered at a rank commensurate with academic accomplishments.

Position Overview:
The College of Medicine & Health Sciences implements a six-year undergraduate program divided into three two-year phases: Premedical, Preclinical, and Clinical programs. The successful candidate will work closely with the Department Chair of Medical Education to assist faculty in developing teaching and student assessment effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Department Chair to assist faculty develop teaching and student assessment effectiveness through faculty development programs
• Liaise with Program Directors, Course Coordinators, and faculty to develop an outcome-based medical education curriculum
• Interpret training requirements of each specialty, including promotion and use of clinical simulation center
• Provide input and recommendations to Dean, Vice Dean, Program Directors, and University on medical education and training activities
• Responsible for special projects delegated by Vice Dean regarding Postgraduate education and training
• Provide support and advice to College leaders on accreditation of undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs
• Develop policies and procedures for effective curriculum management
• Supervise delivery of medical education curriculum in collaboration with Program Directors
• Contribute to evaluation of faculty teaching
• Contribute to development and coordination of learning in clinical skills and simulation center
• Work with clinical specialists to ensure smooth delivery of OSCEs
• Develop annual report on Medical Education activities

Minimum Qualification:

• PhD in Medical Education
• Master’s degree in Education/Medical Education

Preferred Qualification:

• MBBS(MD)
• PhD in Medical Education

• Publication record appropriate to rank
• Knowledge and experience leading/implementing developments in medical education
