Job Description
The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position in the Department of Medical Education. Qualified candidates at all levels will be considered at a rank commensurate with academic accomplishments.
Position Overview:
The College of Medicine & Health Sciences implements a six-year undergraduate program divided into three two-year phases: Premedical, Preclinical, and Clinical programs. The successful candidate will work closely with the Department Chair of Medical Education to assist faculty in developing teaching and student assessment effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Department Chair to assist faculty develop teaching and student assessment effectiveness through faculty development programs
- Liaise with Program Directors, Course Coordinators, and faculty to develop an outcome-based medical education curriculum
- Interpret training requirements of each specialty, including promotion and use of clinical simulation center
- Provide input and recommendations to Dean, Vice Dean, Program Directors, and University on medical education and training activities
- Responsible for special projects delegated by Vice Dean regarding Postgraduate education and training
- Provide support and advice to College leaders on accreditation of undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs
- Develop policies and procedures for effective curriculum management
- Supervise delivery of medical education curriculum in collaboration with Program Directors
- Contribute to evaluation of faculty teaching
- Contribute to development and coordination of learning in clinical skills and simulation center
- Work with clinical specialists to ensure smooth delivery of OSCEs
- Develop annual report on Medical Education activities
Minimum Qualification:
- PhD in Medical Education
- Master’s degree in Education/Medical Education
Preferred Qualification:
- MBBS(MD)
- PhD in Medical Education
Expected Skills:
- Experience with Problem Based and/or Team Based Learning
- Innovator willing to work with a team
- Experience in research involvement
- Publication record appropriate to rank
- Knowledge and experience leading/implementing developments in medical education
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team
- Ability to take initiative, problem solve, and identify priorities
- Commitment and enthusiasm for quality innovative medical education
