Job Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Kingdom University Bahrain invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Structural Engineering. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to engineering education and research at a dynamic university in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will teach assigned courses within the College of Engineering, specifically in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Responsibilities include teaching, research, student mentorship, academic service, and contribution to quality assurance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

• Deliver assigned courses in Structural Engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Engage students through effective instruction and learning activities
• Mentor, supervise, and advise students as assigned

Research & Scholarship:

• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate theses
• Engage in thesis defense sessions
• Contribute to research activities and scholarly publications

Academic Service:

• Participate in committees, councils, conferences, and other academic, research, and administrative activities at the college and institutional levels
• Contribute to quality assurance and regulatory reviews, including program and institutional evaluations required by higher education bodies
• Support global ranking initiatives
• Comply with the college and management’s strategic and operational plans

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related field from an accredited institution
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level
• Strong background in structural analysis, design, and related disciplines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to student mentorship and academic excellence
• Ability to contribute to quality assurance and accreditation processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional engineering credentials (e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent)
• Industry experience in structural engineering and design
• Track record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Experience supervising postgraduate theses
• Familiarity with program accreditation and quality assurance processes
• Experience contributing to global ranking initiatives
