Job Description

The Faculty of Mathematics and Data Science at Emirates Aviation University (EAU) invites applications for a Post-doctoral Research Associate position in AI and Bayesian Machine Learning for Sustainable Transport Systems. This is a fixed-term position for 2 years, starting on 1 April 2026, funded by the Dubai RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) program.

Project Overview:
Project Title: Mapping and Modelling the Sustainability of Dubai’s Transport System (Dubai RDI-funded)
The successful candidate will contribute to cross-disciplinary research through the development of AI-driven and uncertainty-aware modelling approaches for sustainable urban transport systems. The role involves integrating transport, environmental, and climate-related data within a systems-based decision-support framework to enable robust, policy-relevant scenario analysis.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will join the Faculty of Mathematics and Data Science in Dubai, working on cutting-edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and sustainable urban transport. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to Dubai’s sustainability goals through innovative data-driven modelling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of AI- and data-driven models to support sustainability and resilience assessment in urban transport systems
• Support model calibration, validation, and scenario analysis using large and heterogeneous datasets
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams to ensure alignment with real-world planning and policy needs
• Assist in translating technical findings into clear, accessible insights for non-technical stakeholders
• Integrate transport, environmental, and climate-related data within systems-based decision-support frameworks
• Develop uncertainty-aware modelling approaches for robust policy-relevant scenario analysis

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field
• Strong expertise in machine learning and probabilistic modelling
• Strong expertise in data-driven analysis
• Advanced computational skills, including proficiency in Python programming
• Experience working with complex datasets and computational modelling tools
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and applied research environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Bayesian machine learning methods
• Background in transport systems modelling or urban sustainability research
• Track record of research publications in relevant fields
• Experience translating technical findings for policy stakeholders
