Visiting Professor of Philosophy, Open Rank | NYU Abu Dhabi

Job Overview

Job Description

NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for an open-rank, two-year visiting faculty appointment in the NYUAD Philosophy program starting Academic Year 2025-2026. Applicants should have a demonstrated capacity to teach courses in non-Western or other traditionally underrepresented areas of philosophy. The NYUAD Philosophy Program views philosophy as a fully global discipline, and its curriculum strives to integrate the study of contemporary international philosophy with an understanding of philosophy’s rich multicultural history.

Teaching load for the year is four undergraduate courses (typically 2 in Fall, 2 in Spring) plus capstone thesis advising. These courses may include introductory and advanced Philosophy electives, as well as courses in NYUAD’s distinctive Core Curriculum. All instruction is in English.

Visiting faculty (if not retired) must be able to obtain a leave of absence and a letter of no objection from their home institution. The NYUAD academic calendar typically starts the last week of August and ends in the last week of May. Candidates must be willing to relocate to the UAE in time for the beginning of the semester.
