NYU Abu Dhabi’s Division of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Control Systems and Intelligent Decision-Making. We seek a rising scholar to conduct groundbreaking research and teach exceptional students within our global network.

This position emphasizes research in Machine Learning and Reinforcement Learning for Robotics and Control Systems and Autonomous Systems. You will gain access to exceptional facilities, including a 1000m³ motion capture arena, aerial/ground/submersible agents, and haptics labs. You will also affiliate with the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) and collaborate closely with faculty at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering in New York, leveraging one of the world’s top programs in Communications, Robotics, and Machine Learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a high-impact, externally funded research program in control systems, robotics, and machine learning.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering with innovation and excellence.
• Mentor a diverse cohort of undergraduate and PhD students, drawn from the top talent globally.
• Publish influential research in leading peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
• Contribute to the university’s mission through service and academic leadership.
• Collaborate with researchers across NYU’s global network in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field by the start date.
• A demonstrated potential for world-class scholarship and developing a strong, independent research program.
• A commitment to innovative and effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Research expertise aligned with the focus areas of machine/reinforcement learning for control and autonomous systems.
