Title: Visiting Professor/Lecturer of Social Research and Public Policy | NYU Abu Dhabi

NYU Abu Dhabi’s Division of Social Science invites applications for visiting faculty positions in Social Research and Public Policy. These one-year appointments offer opportunities to contribute to a globally recognized program while teaching exceptional students from diverse backgrounds.

Position Overview:
The visiting positions are available at all academic ranks for appointments beginning September 1, 2026. The program seeks scholars who can enhance its curriculum through theoretical foundations and thematic expertise.

Teaching Opportunities:
Required Course Instruction:

  • Sociological Theory
  • Modern Social Theory
  • Modern Social Thought in Comparative Perspective

Thematic Expertise Areas:

  • Gender Studies and Social Policy
  • Education and Social Mobility
  • Technology and Society
  • Environmental Policy
  • MENA Region Studies

Position Details:

  • One-year visiting appointment
  • Professor teaching load: 4 courses annually (2 per semester)
  • Lecturer teaching load: 6 courses annually (3 per semester)
  • Small class sizes for enhanced student interaction
  • Scholars without prior Assistant Professor experience eligible for Lecturer positions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in MENA region studies
  • Non-Western-centric teaching pedagogy
  • Global comparative perspectives
  • Interdisciplinary research approach

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • PhD in Sociology, Policy, Anthropology, Demography, or Middle East Studies
  • Strong record of scholarship and teaching
  • Active research portfolio
  • Ability to obtain leave of absence from home institution
