The Political Science Program in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for an Academic Specialist position. This role offers an opportunity to support the university’s educational mission by assisting faculty with social science courses at one of the world’s top-ranked institutions.

Position Overview:
The Academic Specialist – equivalent to teaching assistants/fellows at other institutions – will facilitate discussion sections, hold review sessions, and assist with course preparation, development, and assessment. The successful candidate will participate in departmental activities and engage in professional development opportunities, including attending social science conferences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate discussion sections for undergraduate political science courses
• Hold review sessions to support student learning and comprehension
• Assist faculty with course preparation, development, and assessment
• Participate in departmental activities and academic events
• Engage in professional development opportunities
• Attend social science conferences with institutional support
• Contribute to the educational mission of NYU Abu Dhabi

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Political Science or a related field from an accredited institution
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Strong quantitative skills (desired)
• Ability to work effectively with faculty and students in a multicultural environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching or tutoring experience at university level
• Familiarity with undergraduate education and student development
• Interest in interdisciplinary social science approaches
• Experience facilitating discussion-based learning
