NYU Abu Dhabi Community Programs invites applications for an Academic Affairs Coordinator to support multiple high-level community outreach initiatives. This two-year appointment offers an opportunity to work with dynamic programs serving talented UAE national students.

Programs Overview:

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholars Program:

  • Serves outstanding students from Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE University, and Zayed University
  • Provides academic courses, leadership experiences, networking, and graduate school preparation
  • Goals include academic development, leadership growth, and graduate education advising

NYU Abu Dhabi Summer Academy:

  • 18-month program for highly motivated Emirati high school students
  • Selects up to 36 participants through competitive admissions
  • Offers intensive summer courses, international travel opportunities, and online study
  • Prepares students for success at top-tier English-language universities

PhD Pathways Program:

  • First-of-its-kind program in the UAE addressing Emirati PhD underrepresentation
  • Provides research experience, mentorship, skill acquisition, and graduate school preparation

Arab Film Studio Young Filmmakers Workshop:

  • Supports emerging filmmakers through creative development opportunities

Position Overview:


The Academic Affairs Coordinator will coordinate academic operations across these community programs, working with a dynamic team to improve academic and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Operations:

  • Lead registration and enrollment for all program students
  • Update class schedules for Scholars Program, Summer Academy, and PhD Pathways
  • Create Brightspace course sites for all courses
  • Coordinate and collect midterm and final grades; submit to Registrar
  • Coordinate and collect midterm and final feedback
  • Design and deliver course evaluations

Administrative Operations:

  • Coordinate classroom bookings and Zoom links for all courses
  • Facilitate classroom set-up requests (seating arrangements, videography)
  • Manage A/V and IT requests for faculty and students
  • Support recruitment, nominations, and selections processes
  • Assist with program events and extracurricular activities
  • Participate in international trip programming and student supervision

Faculty Communication:

  • Create and coordinate faculty directory
  • Organize and support faculty meetings (agendas, reminders, action steps)
  • Update Google Calendar events involving faculty

Student Communication:

  • Send class reminders to students
  • Track attendance and submissions for all classes
  • Coordinate academic probation process

Assistant Instructor Role (as assigned):

  • Prepare lesson plans and materials
  • Provide classroom support and note-taking
  • Update Brightspace course sites and track discussions
  • Coordinate class projects and assignments
  • Meet individually with students as required
  • Support grades and feedback process
  • Facilitate sessions and workshops

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs, or related discipline
  • Two or more years of prior higher education student affairs experience
  • Ability to work with students from local high schools and UAE federal universities
  • High-level organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with diverse cultures and populations
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for carrying out program mission
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent judgment, tact, diplomacy, and discretion
  • Flexibility and creativity in fast-changing situations
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs, or related discipline
  • Familiarity with in-person and online modes of instruction
  • Familiarity with Emirati education and culture
  • Experience teaching and supporting ESL learners, particularly writing skills
  • Exceedingly well-developed cultural sensitivity
