Job Description
Qatar University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Sociology position within the Department of Social Sciences. This is a three-year renewable position offering an opportunity to contribute to sociology education at Qatar’s premier national institution of higher education.

About the College of Arts and Sciences:
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses ten departments covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature & Linguistics, Arabic Languages, History, Fine Arts, Geography, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Mass Communication, Psychology, Policy, Planning & Development, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, and Environmental Science.
The College also houses Master Programs in Environmental Science, Gulf Studies, Materials Science, Arabic Language and Literature, and Applied Statistics, in addition to PhD programs in Biological and Environmental Sciences and Gulf Studies. Research centers including the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) and the Gulf Studies Center complement the portfolio. CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure intramural and extramural funding for their research ideas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach courses to undergraduate students in Arabic
- Advise undergraduate students
- Collaborate with faculty on research within and across departments
- Provide service to the department, university, profession, and community
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Seek and obtain extramural funding
Required Qualifications:
- PhD Degree in Sociology
- Fluent in both Arabic and English
- Teaching experience
- Publication record with clear research agenda
Selection Criteria:
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Excellent teaching record
- Track record of publications
- Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills

- Awards, grants (role and amount)
- Teaching, research and service philosophy
- Three referees’ contact information (physical and email addresses and telephone numbers)
- Copy of highest earned credential (transcript or certificate letter)
- Any additional documentation deemed relevant
