Internship and Career Specialist – Dubai University

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates | Institution: Dubai University (UD) | Employment Type: Full-Time | Posting Date: July 2, 2026

Job Purpose

The objective of the Internship and Career Specialist (ICS) position is to facilitate and manage the placement of students into meaningful and relevant internship opportunities that align with their academic and career goals. The ICS uses independent analysis and judgment to develop, coordinate, and supervise complex and varied administrative tasks in order to implement successful placement for University of Dubai (UD) interns. The position encompasses two distinct areas of responsibility: internship development and coordination, and employer relations and student/academic department relations.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities – Internship

  • Lead the planning and coordination of internship placements for Law students, including schedule alignment with UK-based academic timelines
  • Build and sustain relationships with law firms, in-house legal departments, judicial entities, and regulatory authorities to develop new internship opportunities
  • Create and maintain a dedicated legal-sector employer database for Law internships, regularly updating contacts, placement history, and feedback records
  • Collaborate with the College of Law, Registration Department, and Finance to ensure internship timelines, requirements, and expectations are clearly understood and aligned
  • Review and process internship training plans and agreements for Law students, and follow up with legal organizations to ensure compliance
  • Provide tailored guidance and internship preparation to Law students, including resume reviews, interview tips, and expectations for legal internships
  • Address placement challenges in the legal field and propose viable solutions to the ICDC Manager

Secondary Responsibilities – Career Services & Strategic Programs

  • Support career development programs under DBS and other colleges, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE), 5000 Digital Talents (which requires 5 years’ collaboration with UD), and related initiatives
  • Coordinate the newly introduced Dubai Business School Career Portfolio Development and Community Engagement
  • Collect and maintain data relevant to MOE KPIs, particularly in employment relevance, job offers post-internship, and employer feedback
  • Assist in organizing law-focused and specialized career events, guest speaker sessions, and employer site visits
  • Respond to employer requests for information about internship and graduate employment opportunities related to Law areas
  • Collaborate with ICDC team members to align reporting practices and career services efforts with accreditation and KPI requirements
  • Contribute to the preparation of internship and employment tracking reports for quality assurance and accreditation purposes
  • Assist in marketing internship and career services through outreach materials tailored for Law and strategic program students

Performance Criteria

  • Number of new law firms/legal departments onboarded as internship providers
  • Timeliness and completion rate of Law student internship placements
  • Employer satisfaction feedback (legal sector)
  • Accuracy of KPI-related data submitted
  • Participation in career events/programs aligned with MOE priorities

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Career Counseling, or a related field
  • Career advising certificate preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ work experience with a recruitment firm or in a university

Competencies

  • Knowledge of career and occupational resources, trends, and opportunities
  • Knowledge of internship programs, including policies, procedures, and best practices in higher education
  • Student advising skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support throughout the internship process
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, given the extensive communication with industry HR professionals this role involves
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple internship placements and administrative tasks efficiently
  • Networking abilities, with the capability to connect with industry professionals and employers to secure internship opportunities
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with students, alumni, academics, employers’ HR staff, and other company professionals
  • Problem-solving skills, with the capacity to resolve issues related to internship placements and student concerns
  • Attention to detail, ensuring thoroughness in maintaining accurate internship records and documentation
  • Ethical standards, including adherence to ethical guidelines and confidentiality in handling student and employer information
