Faculty Member – Sociology, College of Arts and Humanities, University of Fujairah

Location: Fujairah, United Arab Emirates | Institution: University of Fujairah (UOF) | College: Arts and Humanities | Department: Sociology and Social Work | Reports to: Dean of the College | Deadline: August 23, 2026

Summary of Functions

The Faculty Member in Sociology contributes to achieving the mission of the department, college, and university by delivering high-quality teaching, producing impactful research, supervising postgraduate students, engaging in community service, and supporting quality assurance and academic accreditation processes in alignment with UAE standards (MOHESR / CAA).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Sociology
  • Deliver instruction in both Arabic and English
  • Design and develop courses aligned with QFEmirates
  • Develop Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) aligned with Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
  • Apply innovative teaching strategies that promote critical thinking and social analysis
  • Develop assessment tools aligned with constructive alignment principles
  • Participate in curriculum development and program review
  • Conduct and publish research in peer-reviewed indexed journals
  • Contribute to the research agenda of the department and college
  • Secure research funding (internal and external)
  • Participate in academic conferences and seminars
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
  • Supervise master’s theses and provide academic advising
  • Participate in thesis defense committees
  • Support students’ research and publication skills
  • Contribute to program documentation aligned with CAA and MOHESR
  • Participate in Assessment of Learning (AoL)
  • Prepare and review academic quality reports (Course, Program, AoL)
  • Support accreditation and continuous improvement processes
  • Participate in community engagement activities
  • Provide consultancy to government and community institutions
  • Organize and participate in workshops and seminars

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Sociology from an accredited university
  • Strong research record with publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Proven experience supervising postgraduate students
  • Experience in university teaching
  • Proficiency in teaching in both Arabic and English
  • Experience in academic accreditation and quality assurance processes
  • Experience in curriculum design and learning outcomes assessment
  • Experience in academic committees and institutional service
