Job Description

The University of Kalba invites applications for the position of Dean of the College of Law. This senior leadership role requires an accomplished legal scholar and academic leader to advance legal education and strengthen the College’s regional and global impact in legal studies.

Position Overview:
The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative leader, providing strategic direction for legal education, research, and community engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a distinguished record in legal scholarship and proven leadership experience in legal education.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership & Governance:

• Provide visionary leadership for legal education and scholarship
• Lead curriculum development and program innovation in legal studies
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across law disciplines
• Ensure effective governance and strategic planning

Accreditation & Quality Assurance:

• Ensure compliance with UAE CAA accreditation standards
• Lead preparation for national and international accreditation reviews
• Benchmark programs against global legal education frameworks (ABA, QAA, WASC)
• Oversee continuous improvement in legal education outcomes

Faculty & Student Development:

• Recruit and retain high-quality legal faculty and staff
• Promote research excellence and scholarly publication
• Enhance experiential learning through legal clinics and moot courts
• Foster inclusive, collaborative academic culture

Practical Legal Training:

• Develop internship programs with legal practices and judiciary
• Strengthen graduate employability in legal practice and public service
• Build partnerships with law firms, government, and international organizations
• Promote justice, legal reform, and human rights education

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Doctoral degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification
• Academic credentials suitable for Full Professor appointment
• Distinguished record in legal scholarship and education
• Significant senior leadership experience in legal education
• Proven expertise in strategic planning and budget management
• In-depth knowledge of legal accreditation standards
• Experience with international legal education frameworks
• Strong engagement with legal practice and professional bodies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with UAE/GCC higher education landscape
• Experience in international legal education collaborations
• Record of building partnerships with legal institutions
• Ability to enhance institutional visibility in legal education
