Job Description

The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) invites applications for the position of College Dean for the College of Administrative & Financial Sciences. The College Dean serves as the Chair of the College Council and is ultimately responsible for the quality of education at the college, managing faculty affairs, student conduct, and fulfilling the strategic goals and initiatives of the college.

Position Overview:
The College Dean reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and sets the overarching thrusts of the college in instruction, research, and community engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement the College Operational Plan and lead college efforts toward achieving University goals
• Determine activities required to achieve college goals and assign responsibility according to planned time frame
• Prepare and administer the college budget
• Ensure all academic policies, procedures, and terms of reference are maintained and implemented
• Provide management support and leadership for programme evaluation, development, and successful implementation
• Assure academic alignment of college programmes to local, regional, and international standards
• Ensure quality of academic instruction, academic staff, and faculty
• Provide leadership and promote competence within faculty by creating conditions conducive to improvement of instruction, scholarly research, and community engagement
• Oversee promotion and retention of faculty based on established criteria
• Supervise faculty teaching loads and ensure high level of instruction
• Provide formal communication link between college and other parts of the university
• Actively participate with other colleges/departments in curriculum review, student recruiting, and registration processes
• Ensure operational welfare of college including scheduling, staff supervision, and office functions
• Coordinate programs with other colleges, departments, educational institutions, professional associations, government agencies, or private industries
• Provide academic progression support to students
• Monitor student intake and provide input to marketing department for improved admissions
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by VPAA

Qualifications:

Education:

• Not more than 50 years old
• Arabic speaker an advantage
• Holder of doctoral degree related to the degree programmes offered
• At least five (5) years’ experience in teaching including three (3) years of supervision after obtaining doctoral degree
• Knowledge and experience in Quality Assurance and Accreditation, preferably in AACSB
• Experienced in programme development and measuring programme effectiveness
• Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in oral and written communication
• Proficient in technological and computer skills

Experience:

• At least five (5) years’ experience in teaching, including three (3) years of supervision after obtaining doctoral degree
