Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) invites applications for the position of Clinical Psychologist at the College of Islamic Studies (CIS). This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive clinical psychotherapy, psychological assessments, and clinical supervision to graduate trainees within an outpatient mental health setting.

About the College of Islamic Studies:
The College of Islamic Studies was established as a hub for contemporary Islamic studies, promoting intellectual discourse on Islam within a global context. CIS offers ten graduate and postgraduate programs, preparing students for careers in academia, research, as well as cultural, business, and finance sectors through specialized tracks. CIS integrates academic Islamic principles with modern social sciences, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and scholarship.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Services:

  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy sessions to clients with various mental health concerns using evidence-based therapeutic techniques
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations including diagnostic interviews and psychometric testing
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives
  • Provide crisis intervention and support for clients in acute distress or experiencing emergencies
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records including progress notes, treatment plans, and assessment reports

Supervision & Training:

  • Offer clinical supervision and guidance to graduate trainees ensuring professional development and adherence to ethical standards
  • Lead supervision groups with students and provide individual supervision meetings
  • Provide shadowing sessions for trainees and junior clinicians

Teaching & Community Engagement:

  • Offer intermittent supportive teaching in the Masters of Counseling Psychology program
  • Present at speaking engagements, training sessions, seminars, or workshops within the community
  • Lead or coordinate support groups on and off-site
  • Attend bi-monthly Islamic Psychotherapy trainings and weekly staff meetings

Collaboration & Administration:

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals such as psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses to provide holistic care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical services and maintain accreditation standards
  • Complete all administrative forms and tasks related to the clinical psychologist role
  • Adhere to religious and professional ethics as a Muslim professional

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution
  • License to practice as a psychologist in the State of Qatar
  • 6-8 years post-licensure mental health experience in a college counseling center or other relevant setting
  • Strong leadership training and leadership experience
  • Experience in presenting at international conferences
  • Experience providing supervision to Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Associates, or equivalent fields
  • Strong knowledge of confidentiality for patient-counselor privilege
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English with ability to provide bilingual counseling
  • Excellent writing skills with ability to draft and edit written reports and communications
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

Work Setting:
The clinician shall work in the capacity of a clinical psychologist/psychological counsellor and educator at the CIS Psychology clinic, providing cognitive and psychological evaluations for agency school partners or university-based settings.
