Job Description
Qatar University invites applications for an Associate Professor of Architecture position within the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. This role offers an opportunity to advance the teaching, research, and service mission of the department at Qatar’s premier national institution of higher education.

About the Department:
Established in 1980, the College of Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering and Computer Science. The Department of Architecture and Urban Planning delivers a NAAB Certified Architecture Program that integrates theoretical rigor, applied research, and industry engagement. The department aims to contribute to Qatar’s built environment and empower future architects and designers capable of global practice, innovation and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in architecture and related disciplines
- Supervise student research, graduation projects, and postgraduate theses
- Develop and sustain a productive research agenda with competitive publications and grants
- Contribute to NAAB International Certification, program review, curriculum development, and strategic planning
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees
- Participate in professional, outreach, and community-focused activities aligned with university mission
- Engage in continual professional development, innovation, and leadership in the field
Academic Rank Requirement:
- Minimum entry level: Associate Professor
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree must be obtained from a NAAB-accredited program
- PhD degree in Architecture or a closely related field from an institution ranked within the Top 100 globally based on subject ranking
- Master and PhD degrees must be from a university recognized and accredited by Qatar University
- PhD program must be a full-time study program (evidence of transcript or letter from university registrar office required)
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years since completion of the highest earned degree
- Demonstrated history of teaching excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Research Profile Requirements:
- Evidence of sustained research activity
- Publications in indexed journals
- Competitive grants record
- Scopus total citations above 1,000
- Scopus h-index 15 and above
