Job Description

The Department of Public Policy in the College of Public Policy at the University of Sharjah invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor in Public Policy, commencing in September 2026 for the academic year 2026/2027. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to graduate education and research leadership in a dynamic academic environment.

Position Overview:
The College seeks an experienced faculty member with a sustained research agenda and proven graduate-level teaching excellence. The successful candidate will contribute to the Master of Arts program in Public Policy through teaching, research supervision, and program development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Program Delivery:

• Teach and coordinate Master’s level courses in Public Policy fields including:
  • Economics and policy analysis
  • Ethics and public policy
  • Financial governance
  • Policy design and implementation

Research & Scholarship:

• Maintain a sustained and recognized research agenda
• Publish in peer-reviewed academic journals
• Lead research initiatives within the department
• Contribute to policy-oriented scholarship

Supervision & Mentorship:

• Provide academic advising to graduate students
• Supervise Master’s theses and applied research projects
• Mentor junior faculty members where required

Academic Leadership:

• Lead curriculum development and course review initiatives
• Serve actively on departmental, college, and accreditation committees
• Support quality assurance and assessment processes
• Contribute to program enhancement and innovation

Community Engagement:

• Support policy-oriented community initiatives
• Build partnerships with relevant stakeholders
• Contribute to the public policy discourse in the region

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Ph.D. in Public Policy or closely related field from an accredited institution
• Proven record of effective graduate-level teaching
• Established research and publication profile in peer-reviewed outlets
• Demonstrated experience in postgraduate supervision (Master’s level)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to contribute to accreditation, assessment, and quality assurance
• Collaborative and leadership-oriented mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in policy analysis methodologies
• Experience with program accreditation processes
• Record of securing research funding
• Engagement with policy institutions and practitioners
