Job Description

The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), University of Sharjah, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Sociology position. This appointment begins in the Fall semester of the 2026–2027 academic year.

Position Overview:
The Department seeks a qualified candidate with expertise in Applied Sociology to teach undergraduate courses, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in scholarly research and publication. The successful candidate will join a dynamic academic community at one of the UAE’s leading universities.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

• Deliver lectures and seminars in Applied Sociology at undergraduate level
• Develop and update course materials and curricula
• Supervise student research projects at undergraduate level

Research & Scholarship:

• Conduct and publish academic research in the field of specialization
• Maintain a strong academic publication record

Academic Service:

• Participate in departmental activities and contribute to academic planning
• Support university and community initiatives
• Assist in accreditation processes and fulfill academic quality requirements

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Applied Sociology from a recognized and reputable university
• Minimum of 4 years of university-level teaching experience
• Proven ability to develop and deliver academic courses
• Proficiency in both English and Arabic for teaching and publication
• Strong academic publication record in peer-reviewed journals
• Proficiency in digital tools and platforms (e.g., ICDL certification)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in curriculum development and program review
• Track record of student supervision
• Engagement in community initiatives
• Familiarity with accreditation processes
