Job Description
Qatar University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position to teach the Innovation, Leadership and Civic Engagement (UNIV 200) course within the Core Curriculum Program (CCP). This role offers an opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary education at Qatar’s national institution of higher education.

About the Core Curriculum Program:
The Core Curriculum courses provide broad exposure to multidisciplinary areas such as social and behavioral sciences, humanities/fine arts, natural sciences and mathematics that all undergraduate students must take while pursuing their degrees. The CCP provides an integrative approach to Core Curriculum Education, offering opportunities for students to synthesize knowledge, promote deeper understanding of self in the context of Qatari society, and foster broader understanding of the global environment.
About UNIV 200 Course:
UNIV 200 is an interdisciplinary course designed to explore the concepts of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. The course develops students’ predispositions for engaged citizenship and understanding of their role in the community. It aims to develop students’ innovation, problem-solving, leadership, and entrepreneurial thinking skills to address community issues.
During the course, students explore Qatar’s sustainable development goals, realize the value of civic engagement, understand community challenges, and learn to be change agents. Students participate in community service activities and work collaboratively on current local issues. They also learn about 3D Design & Printing technology to design and print their entrepreneurial project models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Innovation, Leadership and Civic Engagement (UNIV 200) course using innovative and engaging teaching approaches
- Lead pedagogical thinking, develop and improve course curriculum, materials, and resources
- Participate in course development, curriculum and program development
- Provide up-to-date reports involving teaching activities and student advising
- Meet all instructional and advising responsibilities as specified in policies and procedures
- Participate in scholarly and research activities enhancing professional development
- Serve on department, college and university committees
- Provide professional services to the University and community
Required Qualifications:
- PhD degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, or any field of social sciences with relevant experience in teaching entrepreneurship and innovation
- At least three (3) years’ experience in the same field in higher education and/or in a well-established innovation and entrepreneurship institution
- Practical experience in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship
- Record of successful baccalaureate-level teaching in a university or college
- Evidence of relevant research potential including potential to publish in appropriate leading journals
- Ability to teach in Arabic is required
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic
- Experience in the industry is an advantage
Required Skills:
- Ability to use a range of delivery techniques to engage student interest and enthusiasm
- Ability to initiate curriculum development and take responsibility for effective teaching delivery
- Experience with course development at undergraduate level
- Knowledge of learning outcomes assessment at undergraduate level
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate to colleagues and diverse students
- Ability to perform to required deadlines and initiate, plan, organize and deliver programs
- Effective communication skills with diverse student population
- Excellent coordination, planning and organizational skills
- Service oriented attitude, flexible, patient and creative
- Strong commitment to student success
