Job Description

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Computational Mathematics. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to mathematical research and education at one of the UAE’s premier higher education institutions.

Position Overview:
The Department of Mathematics seeks a scholar with expertise in optimization and theoretical scientific computing. The successful candidate will focus on algorithmic development and mathematical method design, contributing to interdisciplinary research aligned with UAE national priorities.

Research Focus Areas:

• Optimization theory and algorithms
• Theoretical foundations of scientific computing
• Development and analysis of mathematical methods
• Algorithmic design and computational mathematics
• Interdisciplinary mathematical applications

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses
• Develop and maintain an active research program in computational mathematics
• Secure internal and external research funding
• Publish research findings in esteemed, peer-reviewed journals
• Mentor students and supervise research projects
• Contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives
• Address scientific and technological challenges aligned with UAE priority areas

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• PhD in Mathematics from an accredited institution
• Specialization in optimization and/or theoretical scientific computing
• Strong emphasis on algorithmic development and mathematical method design
• Research proficiency with potential for funded research
• Commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels
• Fluency in English (language of instruction)
• Ability to establish collaborative research partnerships

Preferred Qualifications:

• Postdoctoral experience in higher education institutions
• Demonstrated teaching excellence at university level
• Strong research record with peer-reviewed publications
• Experience in interdisciplinary research collaboration
