Job Description

The Department of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering (PCED) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering position. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and service with a strong focus on Sustainability, Carbon Capture (CCUS), Green Hydrogen Production, and AI/ML applications in chemical engineering.

General Duties:

• Teach academic courses within specialization in accordance with quality standards
• Supervise graduation projects and postgraduate theses (Master’s and PhD)
• Provide academic advising and support students in academic and career planning
• Attend departmental and college council meetings
• Participate in internal and external committees
• Prepare and publish scholarly research in relevant field
• Offer scientific consultations and participate in conferences and symposia
• Contribute to community service through workshops, seminars, and research studies
• Build local and international partnerships
• Contribute to development of academic policies and quality assurance standards
• Stay current with latest developments in the field

Specific Requirements:

• PhD in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution (full-time study required)
• Specialization: Sustainability, Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS), Green Hydrogen Production, and AI/Machine Learning Applications in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum 3 years experience in university teaching and scientific research
• Good conduct and medical fitness required

Academic Position Requirements:

• Qualifications must be obtained through full-time study (distance, affiliation, or blended learning not accepted)
• Priority given to candidates with university teaching and research experience
• One application per candidate per college
