Job Description

Muscat University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Accounting with emphasis on Audit, Professional Ethics, Business Tax, Tax Policy and Personal Tax, and Strategic Management Accounting to join the Faculty of Business and Management.

Position Overview:
The post holder will work with the Faculty Dean to ensure efficient delivery of modules and will be responsible for curriculum management and enhancement activities complying with Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality teaching in Audit, Professional Ethics, Business Tax, Tax Policy and Personal Tax, and Strategic Management Accounting at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Construct, plan, and assess student assignments
• Liaise with Faculty Dean on student matters including timetabling and academic support
• Undertake role of Student Advisor/Personal Tutor
• Conduct research and scholarly activity for publication in international academic journals
• Engage with external accounting bodies and industry to enrich student experience
• Participate in university meetings including Board of Examiners and Programme Reviews
• Develop and supervise research projects (Assistant Professor level)

Qualifications & Experience:

Assistant Professor Rank:

• PhD in Accounting or closely related field from accredited university (ideally UK-based and AACSB accredited)
• Good research profile
• Minimum 3 years post-doctoral HE teaching experience (including master’s level)
• Experience of UK HE sectors and/or Omani and GCC HE environments (advantage)
• Strong links to industry and international context experience

Exceptional Candidates (Assistant Professor):

• Recognized professional qualifications + substantial industry/professional experience + at least 5 years HE teaching and research experience

Lecturer Rank:

• Master’s degree in Accounting
• Minimum 2 years HE teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACCA qualification and/or ACCA experience
• Professional qualifications and/or membership in recognized bodies
• Fellowship of HE Academy or willingness to work towards (within 18 months)
• Academic accreditation or quality assurance experience
• Strong track record in research and scholarly activities
