Job Description

The Department of Accounting and Information Systems at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for two full-time faculty positions in accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor. Therefore, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, and service at a leading AACSB-accredited business school in the UAE.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s teaching, research activities, and service. While we welcome applications from academics with various accounting backgrounds, we are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in financial accounting and/or taxation.

Key Responsibilities:

• First and foremost, teach accounting courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels
• Additionally, contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement
• Furthermore, engage in scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals
• Moreover, participate in departmental and university service activities
• Consequently, support the department’s mission of academic excellence

Required Qualifications:

• To begin with, candidates must have a PhD degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited university, preferably North American
• Furthermore, assistant professors must have evidence of publications and promising research potential
• Additionally, candidates should be able to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels
• Specifically, the PhD should be obtained from an AACSB-accredited institution, preferably North America
• Moreover, the PhD should be completed within the last five years (preferably within three) or nearing completion
• Ideally, candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a PhD in Accounting
• However, a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business plus a PhD in Accounting is also sufficient
