Job Description
The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Petroleum Engineering. This position begins in Spring 2026 and offers opportunities to contribute to a growing engineering program in the UAE.
Position Overview:
The department seeks a dedicated scholar with expertise in petroleum engineering and chemical engineering fundamentals. The successful candidate will join a dynamic academic environment focused on teaching excellence and industry-relevant research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate petroleum engineering courses including:
- Reservoir Rock and Fluid Properties
- Drilling Engineering and Well Logging
- Petroleum Reservoir and Production Engineering
- Reservoir Simulation and Enhanced Oil Recovery
- Petroleum Economics
- Develop and deliver introductory chemical engineering courses
- Supervise laboratory sessions and senior design projects
- Conduct innovative research in petroleum engineering
- Mentor undergraduate students and provide academic guidance
- Contribute to curriculum development and accreditation processes
- Participate in departmental committees and university initiatives
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- PhD in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution
- At least one postgraduate degree in Chemical Engineering
- Proven university-level teaching experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Expertise in petroleum engineering areas including:
- Drilling and production engineering
- Reservoir simulation and characterization
- Enhanced oil recovery methods
- Commitment to teaching excellence and student success
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- Familiarity with professional accreditation standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with high-impact educational practices
- Record of research publications and grant funding
- Industry experience in petroleum or chemical engineering
- Experience supervising student projects and research
