The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and education in one of the UAE’s premier engineering institutions.

Position Overview:
The Department seeks applicants who work at the frontiers of their research areas and can complement existing research expertise within the Department, College of Engineering, and University. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses while conducting original research leading to publications in top-ranked international journals.

Research Focus Areas:

• Big data and artificial intelligence in environmental applications
• Physical and chemical treatment unit processes
• Fate and transport of biological and chemical pollutants of emerging concern
• Indoor air quality and environmental health
• Food-energy-water nexus
• Environmental biotechnology
• Integrated waste management in a circular economy
• Techno-economic analysis
• Solid waste management

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Environmental Engineering
• Supervise capstone graduation projects
• Develop new courses and course components
• Contribute to undergraduate and graduate program development

Research:

• Conduct original research leading to publications in top-ranked international journals
• Attract externally funded research projects
• Establish strong network with industrial partners
• Collaborate with Centers of Excellence including:
  • National Water and Energy Center
  • Emirates Center of Mobility

Supervision:

• Advise and mentor undergraduate students
• Supervise M.Sc. and Ph.D. student research
• Guide graduate student projects and theses

Service:

• Provide services to community, society, and university
• Promote growth of the College of Engineering
• Work collegially with diverse internal and external constituencies

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
• Demonstrated record of publications in leading international journals
• Ability to develop independent research and secure research funds
• Effective teaching skills at undergraduate and graduate levels
• Strong communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industrial and professional experience
• Familiarity with outcome-based education and accreditation processes (ABET or equivalent)
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies
• Experience developing new courses and programs
