About the Position

Canadian University Dubai is seeking faculty with expertise in financial technology and digitally enabled financial services.

Successful candidates will contribute to:

The role spans contemporary FinTech areas including blockchain, digital banking, data analytics, decentralized finance, digital risk management, and cybersecurity in financial services.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Financial Technology or a closely related discipline.

The doctoral degree must have been obtained from a university ranked within the top 500 of the QS World University Rankings, preferably from an accredited Western institution.

Candidates should demonstrate:

• A strong record of teaching effectiveness.
• Research productivity appropriate to academic rank.
• Industry engagement.
• Publications in highly ranked, Scopus-indexed journals.

Relevant professional certifications are preferred.

Prior experience within a Canadian academic institution is preferred, as is teaching experience in the Middle East.

Preference will also be given to applicants with an established Canadian or North American academic or professional affiliation, including:

• Canadian qualifications.
• Teaching experience at a Canadian university.
• Other established academic or professional links to Canada or North America.

Experience Requirements

Assistant Professor

Candidates applying at the Assistant Professor level should have a minimum of two years of undergraduate teaching experience at a university ranked within the top 500 of the QS World University Rankings.

Experience should include:

• Curriculum development.
• Supervision of graduation projects.

Associate Professor

Candidates applying at the Associate Professor level should have a minimum of five years of undergraduate and graduate teaching experience at a top-500 QS-ranked university.

Candidates should also have experience supervising MSc or DBA students.

Familiarity with AACSB accreditation is preferred.

Teaching Areas

Teaching will span key areas of Financial Technology, including:

• Blockchain technology.
• FinTech innovation.
• Data analytics and business intelligence.
• Digital banking and financial services.
• Digital risk management.
• Decentralized finance (DeFi).
• Cybersecurity in financial services.

Research Expectations

Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active and high-impact research agenda.

The original vacancy specifies an expectation of at least two publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals, preferably Q1 or Q2 Scopus-indexed journals, commensurate with academic rank.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Serve as a subject matter expert and support the Program Chair or Coordinator in academic operations.
• Help ensure curriculum alignment with CUD requirements, industry needs, and developments in Financial Technology.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in FinTech and related areas.
• Maintain current course content and updated syllabi.
• Complete assessment and grading in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate student records.
• Hold regular office hours and provide academic support and advising.
• Provide particular support to students who are academically at risk.
• Recommend appropriate learning resources and materials.
• Supervise independent studies, projects, internships, graduation projects, and theses as appropriate to academic rank.
• Contribute to curriculum evaluation, course development, and continuous programme improvement.
• Conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
• Maintain active professional and scholarly engagement.
• Engage with industry and professional communities to advance applied FinTech practice.
• Participate in academic governance, faculty meetings, accreditation processes, and related documentation.
• Contribute to AACSB-related accreditation initiatives where applicable.
• Support registration, orientation, and other academic administrative activities.
• Participate in community outreach, industry collaborations, and professional service.
• Represent CUD at conferences, professional events, and relevant public engagements.
• Participate in professional development and capacity-building initiatives.
